What is organic agriculture?

Chickens

Organic agriculture is not an invention by new age hippies, or wacky environmentalists. In fact, organic agriculture uses many traditional methods for dealing with pests and improving soil fertility - methods that were common before chemical fertilizers and pesticides became widespread 40 years ago.

Our restaurant uses a mixture of certified organic, locally produced and conventional products in our food. We are working on increasing the content of organic and local ingredients and appreciate your support in helping us to make this transition.

Good for you!

The synthetic chemicals used in modern agriculture have been linked to a variety of health problems, such as cancer. Very little is known about health effects of genetically modified organisms (GMO's) that are becoming more common in our food. Organic producers do not use any synthetic chemicals or GMO's, resulting in safe, healthy products and a healthier environment. Foods grown by organic methods also contain more micro-nutrients because the soil they are grown in is richer and healthier than most agricultural soils.
