Nature Trails

Forest trailThe Cape Jourimain Nature Centre has a trail system made up of three trails and a beach access that provide visitors with outstanding opportunities for exploring different habitats and enjoying a wide range of coastal panoramas. A fourth trail, the Oulton Trail, is not accessible at this time. Admission charges apply for the access to our trail system.

Our trails are not accessible by wheelchair at this time though we do hope to make improvements to their accessibility in the future.

To help protect the National Wildlife Area's sensitive habitats, visitors are asked to remain on the trails and follow the ethic of "leave nothing but footprints, and take nothing but photographs and memories". Our time estimates for each trail assume a leisurely walking pace.

In early spring or after heavy rainfall, trails may be flooded in areas. In summer, moskitoes can be expected. Poison ivy grows along sections of our trails and we recommend solid footwear and long trousers to avoid contact. More information on how to prepare for a visit.

Our three trails include the Gunning Trail (3 km, 1 hour), the Lighthouse Trail (1.8 km, 40 minutes) and the Trenholm Trail (6 km, 2 hours).
