Choleena DiTullio

Choleena's goal was to use the naturally-occurring wrack line of dried eelgrass to create artworks. A rake would be her paintbrush, the seaweed would be her paint, and the beach would be her canvas.

The picture with the dead fish on the beach is called "Beached". She breathed life back into that fish and adapted it for a second artwork: a fish that is sneaking up and about to swallow her!

In photographing the work, the centre’s Observation Tower came in handy. That vantage point gave her the idea to write the centre's web address so large that Google Earth might capture it. The address not only names the land but identifies it as Canadian (.ca) and lets people know where to go to find out more. She drew an eel, a bird and a shell to indicate that the cape is known for its nature.
