Orange Shirt Day

In observance of Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, join us at the centre on Sunday, September 27th, for an afternoon of community learning, listening, and reflection. The gathering will begin with an opening smudge ceremony led by Elder Jean Nye, followed by context on the significance and origins of Orange Shirt Day. We are then honoured to welcome guest speaker Lorise Simon, Social Worker with Child and Family Services, who will give a presentation on the intergenerational trauma of the Residential School system. We will conclude with time for questions, open discussion, and shared reflection. Orange shirt lapel pins will be provided to participants at the door upon arrival.
